Hello, world. For a long time, I have wanted to put together a website dedicated to photographs that I have taken over the years. Over the Winter break of 2005-'06, I ended up taking many photographs of astronomical objects, and the need for this website increased dramatically, if only as a way for me to stay organized.

This site is divided into several sections, all of which are navigable by the menu on the left. Mainly the photographs are astrophotography, though some nature pages are included.

As for the legal stuff, all photographs are copyright me, Stuart Robbins, unless otherwise stated. They may not be reproduced, redistributed, copied, etc. without explicit permission from me. They especially cannot be used for any commercial purpose without my permission. To obtain it, send me an e-mail.

Update Log

October 4, 2009 - Long time since an update. I updated the "Equipment" page pretty significantly. I also added a whole new section to the "Nature" photography menu -- Road Trips! I've been taking lots of trips that don't really fit well into other categories other than "Landscapes" and I didn't want to deal with sorting them. So, instead, I decided to group them into a "Road Trips" category and added several photos from one I just finished in the greater Flagstaff, AZ area to Meteor Crater and the Grand Canyon. I have to say that this is my third time to each place and it's the first time I think I'm actually happy with some of my Grand Canyon shots and think some look like things other than "snapshots."

December 26-27, 2007 - Of course, after the uniform formatting I finished a few days earlier, I re-vamped the layout of the site. I selected different colors for the side menu to better separate the home page, portfolio pages, and then "the rest" of the pages for the site. I updated the copyright information, and I changed the general hierarchy to emphasize the photos before the blurbs and info, so when you now click on a menu item you get a small thumbnail of each photograph in that section that you can then click on to see a larger version and more information. That's the major change, besides merging all of the astrophotos within an "Astrophotography" section, which required a large re-write of the CSS files. I also added a waterfall photo that I thought I'd already added, and I changed all previews to 288 px across unless they're panoramae. I also changed teh color scheme to an orange highlight and footer, changed the header image and text color, shadow color, some of the style sheet settings, slightly darkened the color of the thin grey boarders, and shrunk the horizontal rules to 1 px tall instead of the default 2. I updated the lunar phases and Venus phases montages, and added the "Moon with Foreground Trees" image. Also added HDR sunset photo, moved the Sunsets section to be within the Nature section, and added the Product Photography and Fireworks photography sections.

December 23, 2007 - Alright, I've finally gotten a more uniform formatting going, removing the purchasing information below every picture and just having it all on the Purchasing page. I also added a photograph of a wasp on a flower to the Nature > Animals page, fixed the size of another photo, and tried to make sure that all information tables are centered.

August 30-31, 2007 - I've re-designed the site navigation to condense the navigation bar but to expand the different pages such that the site is now better-organized and pages aren't quite as long. Basically, this boiled down to making several sub-menu options. As for adding photos, I added ones from the total lunar eclipse on August 28, 2007, the Perseid meteor shower, and the Big Dipper setting over a telescope dome. I've also added a small page on "Purchasing." In line with that, I've also added a "Purchasing Information" table below images. While this might seem commercial, I really am not in the market to push my images, I've just gotten a lot of people asking lately.

August 19, 2007 - Okay, after a long hiatus, I finally have some updates. First, I added the constellation Aquila on the Stars page. Second, I updated the equipment list, adding my Canon 35mm f/1.4L prime lens. Next, and granted this was back in January, I added several photographs from the Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati, OH, including a waterfall and some orchids, to the Nature page. More updates will be coming ...

November 16-17, 2006 - Added a new "Other Solar System Objects" page, and to it, I added images of sunspots, the 2006 Mercury transit, and Comet 2006/M4 SWAN. Finished creating the page "Creating Astrophotos." Added movie of sunset to "Sunsets" page.

October 14, 2006 - Added images of M74 and NGC 7293 to Deep Sky Objects page.

July 24, 2006 - Added another month's worth of images to the Moon page in a second montage of lunar phases. Also added a movie of the changing phases from those images.

July 23, 2006 - Added M2, M9, M15 (updated image), M16, M17, M27, M55, M69, M72, NGC 6946, and NGC 7331 to Deep-Sky Objects page, and started a new section on that page for Non-Messier NGC objects. Also included a blurb at the top of that page about color in the images, and started to include in the Notes section for each image the time and temp/humidity when and the airmass through which the image was taken.

July 22, 2006 - Added Böotes and Corona Borealis region to Stars page. Added butterfly images to Nature page.

July 20, 2006 - Added images of M30 and M73 to Deep-Sky page.

July 19, 2006 - Added the "Links" and "Locations & Equipment" pages to the site, writing extensively about the equipment I use, the location I observe from, and supplying some links to what I consider are the best of the best astrophotography sites. Converted the close-up Earthshine images on the Moon page to the JavaScript slideshow format used now on the Deep-Sky page. Added Earthshine image from June 29, 2006 (19% waxing moon). A few minor word tweeks on moon and main pages.

July 18, 2006 - Added images of M56 and M71 to Deep-Sky page.

July 17, 2006 - Re-scripted the Deep Sky page because it was becoming quite long and a pain to scroll through. Thus, I made it a slide-show-like page with JavaScript navigation. Also, added images of M5, M8, M14, M20, M63, M92, and M101.

June 24, 2006 - Created new image page for "Miscellaneous" images, and moved the Saturn-Mars-M44 conjunction image to it. Added new Earthshine image to Moon page, and updated the moon cycle image with the cycle from May 27 to June 25, 2006. Added conjunction image of Moon-Venus-M45 from June 23, 2006 to Miscellaneous images page.
